40 inches tall
313 pounds (142 Kg)
TIG (tungsten inert gas) welded stainless steel rod and plate.
Each feather created individually.
What the artist is trying to say:
This commissioned stainless steel owl marks the grave of Lori Mae Porter in Abercrombie Cemetery near Pictou, Nova Scotia. I use the “owl” as a metaphor of the afterlife. After death does the spirit pass into a divine consciousness, or simply oblivion?
