Description:
Galvanized steel wire was used to form the shape. The form was then covered with polyester resin, tinfoil, and fiberglass. The sculpture was then painted with polychrome acrylic lacquer and sealed with a silicone sealer.
What the artist is trying to say:
Consistent with my overall aesthetic of exaggerating obscure organisms of the natural world, this morel (Morchella esculenta) has been enlarged to ten times life size. Spores of this Ascomycete fungus are disseminated to the wind by the dark brown reticulated sporocarp.
